The Turning Point (Velikiy perelom, literally "The great turning point") is a Soviet 1945 B&W war drama directed by Fridrikh Ermler and depicting the events of Battle of Stalingrad. The film was Palme d'Or winners of 1946.

Revolvers
Nagant M1895
A Nagant M1895 is a personal sidearm of Starshina (Sgt. Maj.) Minutka (Mark Bernes), a driver of the Commander of the Front Gen. Col. Muravyov. Some other Sovier NCOs also carry Nagants.
Pistols
Tokarev TT-33
Soviet officers and Generals carry TT-33 holsters. The only pistol that can be seen belongs to Gen. Lt. Ivan Anisimovich Panteleev (Aleksandr Zrazhevsky).
Submachine Guns
PPD-40
A PPD-40 is seen in headquarters of the commander of 21st Army Gen. Lt. Pyotr Mikhailovich Krivenko.
PPSh-41
PPSh-41 SMGs are widely used by Soviet soldiers and officers, notably Lt. Fyodorov (Vladimir Maryev) and scout Yefreytor Stepan (Pavel Volkov). Most SMGs have drum magazines but some stick magazines also can be seen.
Suomi M31
Lt. Fyodorov (Vladimir Maryev) is at first seen with a Suomi M31 that later switches to PPSh-41. In the scene in German headquarters of Gen. von Klaus Fyodorov and Stepan (Pavel Volkov) carry Suomi SMGs.
MP40
Most German soldiers are armed with MP40s.
