Magnificent Sinner is a 1959 French film drama by director Robert Siodmak based on the novel by the French writer Princess Marthe Bibesco, which in turn freely tells the life story of Ekaterina Dolgorukova. When the married Tsar Alexander II attends a boarding school for girls, he falls in love with the beautiful Princess Katia. A passionate affair breaks out between the two. However, to stop the rumors at court from spreading, Alexander sends his lover to France. After a failed assassination attempt on the tsar in Paris, the two lovers promise never to part again. Alexander takes Katia back to St. Petersburg, where he employs her as his wife's lady-in-waiting.

What appears to be a Lefaucheux Model 1854 is used by Soloviev (Alain Saury) to kill Czar Alexander II (Curd Jürgens).
