He has worked various occupations, and finally started to professional sports match in freestyle. In 1950 he won the European Championships in Lausanne, European Champion in the middle weight. Due to a foot injury but had to leave the sport and became the manager of games. Director Jacques Becker in the movie needed someone who speaks French and Italian, and Lina remembered his friend from youth, who had started working at filmu. Lino thrown into the role of the type and the casting was a very convincing performance, so he offered the part. But he did not want to play in the film.
