About
JSC Kalashnikov Concern (Russian: Концерн Калашникова, tr. Kontsern Kalashnikova) is a Russian defense manufacturing concern and joint-stock company headquartered in Izhevsk. The concern designs and produces a wide range of civilian and military weapons including assault rifles, sniper rifles, machine guns, hunting rifles, shotguns, guided artillery projectiles, remote controlled weapon stations, unmanned vehicles and military robots and multi-functional special-purpose boats. The Kalashnikov Concern produces about 95% of all small arms in Russia and supplies more than 27 countries around the world, making it the largest firearm manufacturer in Russia.
The Concern contains three firearm brands:
- "Kalashnikov" - combat and civilian weapons
- "Baikal" - hunting and civilian guns
- "Izhmash" - sporting rifles
The company is not to be confused with Kalashnikov USA; Kalashnikov USA is a brand name of RWC Group, a former importer of Kalashnikov Concern firearms in America. Since 2014, RWC Group severed all of its ties with Kalashnikov Concern, rebranded itself as Kalashnikov USA, and became an independent American manufacturer of Kalashnikov-patterened firearms. Despite this, Kalashnikov USA uses branding and iconography identical to the "Kalashnikov" brand used by Kalashnikov Concern, seemingly without license.
