Sensha-dō, a tank sport, has risen in popularity among women and has been running since the 1920s. It is considered a tradition and a form of sport in society.
The following weapons were used in the anime series Girl Und Panzer:

The WWII German tanks appearing in the series are all equipped with coaxial and hull mounted MG34s. Anglerfish Team's Panzer IV has the stocks of the MG34s removed. A Polish 7TP tank is seen with two Ckm wz.30, one for each of its two turrents.

A German A7V tank appears during an introductory video of Sensha-dō with Maxim MG08 machine guns seen on it.

A British Medium Mark A Whippet tank appears during an introductory video of Sensha-dō with Hotchkiss Mk.I machineguns seen on it.
