Dragnet was the 1954 feature film adaptation of the popular television crime series that had premiered in 1951. Jack Webb and Ben Alexander appeared in the film as Sgt. Joe Friday and Officer Frank Smith.

A Colt Detective Special snub revolver is the sidearm carried by majority of the LAPD officers in the film including Sgt. Joe Friday (Jack Webb) and Officer Grace Downey (Ann Robinson).
