Commandos: Behind Enemy Lines is a single-player real-time tactics video game developed by Pyro Studios and published by Eidos Interactive in 1998. Beyond the Call of Duty is its stand-alone expansion, released a year later by the same developer and publisher. The expansion added new weapons, mission and enemies.
The following weapons can be seen in the game Commandos: Behind Enemy Lines and its expansion Beyond the Call of Duty:
Usable Weapons
Smith & Wesson 4506
The Smith & Wesson 4506 with wooden grips is the pistol of choice of the Commando team. This is the only weapon that can be used by the whole team (the only exception being the Dutch Contact, a character added in the expansion). Three shots can bring down an enemy soldier. Has a short range, comes with unlimited ammunition and fires as fast as one can click the mouse button. Appears as "Gun" in Behind Enemy Lines, and as "Pistol" in Beyond the Call of Duty. The weapon is heavily anachronistic, considering that the game takes place in the second World War, but the S&W 4506 was produced from 1988.
Luger P08
The Luger P08 appears in Beyond the Call of Duty when the Spy disguises himself as an Officer or Lieutenant, it will replace the Smith & Wesson as the icon of the pistol.
M3 Grease Gun
The Grease Gun appears as "Submachine Gun" in the game. Only the Driver can use it of the Commandos. Has a small range and is always fired in short bursts. Usually 10 or 20 shots can be fired from it before it runs out of ammo.
Mills Bomb
The Sapper's standard fragmentation grenade is the Mills Bomb.
Duke's Sniper Rifle
Probably a Springfield variant, it is impossible to tell because only the scope can be seen in the inventory menu. Each hit grants instant kill. The remaining bullets are shown in the backpack.
Beretta M1934
The Beretta M1934 wtih wooden grips is the standard handgun of Lips, the Dutch Contact in Beyond the Call of Duty. Has unlimited ammunition. Appears only in the "Dangerous Friendships" mission.
Lee-Enfield Rifle
The Driver's new weapon in Beyond the Call of Duty is a Lee-Enfield rifle. Only part of it can be seen, so it is impossibly to determine the exact variant. Appears as "Rifle", and has unlimited ammunition.
Karabiner 98k
The Karabiner 98k can be used by the Spy when disguised as an regular German Soldier in Beyond the Call of Duty, (but he is forced back to his pistol in other disguises/if his disguise is ruined until he can disguise himself again.) it functions exactly like the Lee-Enfield as a slow firing long range instant kill weapon.
Not Usable Weapons
Colt M1911A1
In Beyond the Call of Duty, a picture of a M1911A1 can be seen after each completed mission. On the photo of the developers shown during the credits, two Pyro Studios employees are seen with (possibly non-firing replica or airsoft) M1911A1 pistols.
M1 Garand
M1 Garands are seen during the cutscenes of the original game.
M1928A1 Thompson
An M1928A1 Thompson are seen during a cutscene.
MP40
MP40s are seen during a cutscene in German hands.
PPSh-41
A PPSh-41 submachine gun can be seen in one of the cutscenes of the game. The same footage was later reused in Commandos 2, but that has a much higher quality.
MG 34 Panzerlauf
The MG 34 Panzerlauf machine gun is seen in the hull mount of the Panzer III and Panzer IV medium tanks.
Various Generic Weapons
Unfortunately the weapons the German troops use during the missions are not detailed enough to determine the exact variants. Here is what's certain: German officers are always using a pistol (probably Luger P08 or a Walther variant) in the game. Most of the Wehrmacht guards are armed with rifles, possibly Kar98k's. The Machine Gunner soldier are using what appear to be the MP40. Several emplaced machine guns can also be seen, probably MG42s or MG34s.
In the Beyond the Call of Duty expansion however; German Officers/Lieutenants are confirmed to use Lugers and the regular Soldiers are confirmed to use the Kar98k as The Spy will have these weapons once he steals the clothes and weapon of a tied up German Officers/Lieutenants/Soldier, in addition a new version of the Machine Gunner unit wearing a brown uniform that is part of pre-alarm patrols is clearly seen with what looks to be an MP40 slung on his back when not in combat. (Though the player cannot knock out Machine Gunner troops meaning the Spy cannot obtain the MP40 by taking their uniforms.)
Flak 38
Several Flak 38 anti-aircraft guns can be seen throughout the original game, as well as in the expansion. The Flak's usually represent objectives that must be destroyed in order to complete the given mission.
Sea Mines
See Mines are seen during the first mission of Beyond the Call of Duty called "Dying Light".
