Onoda: 10,000 Nights in the Jungle is a 2021 movie directed by Arthur Harari. 1944, 22-year-old Hiroo Onoda, trained for intelligence duty, discovers a philosophy that runs counter to the official line: no suicide, stay alive no matter what, the mission is more important than anything else. He is sent to Lubang, a small island in the Philippines, where the Americans are about to land, and is to wage a guerrilla war there until the Japanese troops return. But while the war soon ends for the rest of the Japanese army, it continues for Onoda for ten thousand more days.
