Work In Progress This article is still under construction. It may contain factual errors. See Talk:The X-Files - Season 5 for current discussions. Content is subject to change. |
The following firearms were used in Season 5 of the television series The X-Files:
Handguns
SIG-Sauer P226
FBI Special Agent Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) carries a SIG-Sauer P226 as his sidearm.
SIG-Sauer P228
Mulder's partner, FBI Special Agent Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) carries a SIG-Sauer P228 as her sidearm. Their superior, Assistant Director Walter Skinner (Mitch Pileggi) and some of the other FBI Agents on the show also used the P228. However, the P228 was at times substituted for a different weapon (see below).
SIG-Sauer P225
In several episodes, Dana Scully used a SIG-Sauer P225 rather than the P228 she used normally. This might have occurred because the show's armorer was unable to bring a P228 on-set for those particular episodes. This was also an occurrence during the fourth season as well. The P225 would be seen in interspersed episodes throughout Season 5.
Submachine Guns
Heckler & Koch MP5SD3
In "The Pine Bluff Variant" (S5E18), an undercover Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and the militia group he infiltrates, wield Heckler & Koch MP5SD3s during a robbery. These weapons also subsequently appear in the hands of FBI HRT operators in "Folie à Deux" (S5E19).
Spectre M4
A member of the militia group in "The Pine Bluff Variant" (S5E18) is seen using a Spectre M4.
Rifles
Norinco Type 84S
The Norinco Type 84S was often used on the show by Russian soldiers (as an AK-74 stand-in). In "Patient X" (S5E13), two soldiers in a group of Russian troops led by Alex Krycek (Nicholas Lea) were seen armed with AK rifles while the rest of the unit were armed with clubs/nightsticks. There is a possibility that there were not many AK rifles available in Vancouver during the mid-1990s, which could explain why only two soldiers were armed with rifles while the others were armed with nightsticks.
There was also a recurring appearance of a folding-stock Type 84 that had a long RPK-style barrel. It appeared most prominently in the episode "Folie à Deux" (S5E19) where it was used by a hostage-taker. This is known as the Type 84S Match variant.
Ruger Super Redhawk (mocked up to resemble the KAC silent revolver rifle)
The weapon used by a Quiet Willy to shoot the Smoking Man in "Redux II" (S5E02) is a Ruger Super Redhawk .44 Magnum mocked up to resemble the KAC silent revolver rifle. This is a long barreled pistol has a carbine length bull barrel, and a bipod and black synthetic buttstock. The rifle has appeared in movies and television shows filmed in Canada including Another Stakeout and Psych.
Shotguns
Ithaca 37 "Stakeout"
A custom Ithaca 37 "Stakeout" with a chrome finish on the barrel and magazine tube and an MP5K style pump is used by Scott Ostelhoff (Steve Makaj) in the season opener "Redux" (S5E01). This weapon had appeared in the preceding episode, Season 4's finale "Gethsemane" (S4E24). This gun can also be seen in several episodes of the television series Supernatural, Human Target, Painkiller Jane, and several other TV shows filmed in British Columbia.
