Porco Rosso (Japanese: 紅の豚, Hepburn: Kurenai no Buta, lit. Crimson Pig) is the sixth film from Studio Ghibli and Hayao Miyazaki. At the end of the 1920s, during the reign of the Italian fascists, the Pig-headed pilot Porco Rosso, a veteran of the First World War, fought for peace in the sky around the Mediterranean as a bounty hunter. On his travels, he teamed up with the talented mechanic Fio Piccolo. When Porco Rosso is challenged to a duel by a boastful pilot, a fight begins that will forever change the lives of the two flying aces.
The following weapons were used in the anime film Porco Rosso:
Pistols
Beretta M1923
Two Italian Organizzazione per la Vigilanza e la Repressione dell'Antifascismo (Italian for "Organization for Vigilance and Repression of Anti-Fascism") secret police officers can be seen with low-detailed Beretta M1923 pistols during the take off in the channel.
Glisenti Model 1910
The third secret police officer seems to be armed with a Glisenti Model 1910 pistol.
Mauser C96
One of the Air Pirates that confronts Porco and Fio carries a Mauser C96.
Revolvers
Colt Single Action Army
Several pirates carry Single Action Army revolvers.
Webley Mk VI
The Webley Mk VI revolvers are also used by pirates.
Smith & Wesson Schofield
The American pilot Donald Curtis owns a Smith & Wesson Schofield revolver what he uses during the flying duel.
Submachine Guns
Haenel-Schmeisser MP28/II
A Haenel-Schmeisser MP28/II submachine gun is seen in the hands of one pirate. The appearance of the MP28 seems to be correct since the movie's plot takes place in the late 1920s (1929 to be precise if you look at Porco's "Mare Blu Cinema" magazine at the beginning).
Rifles
Lee-Enfield No.1 Mk.III*
A pair of Air Pirates carry Lee-Enfield No.1 Mk.III* rifles which have many characteristics from Miyazaki's 1986 movie Castle in the Sky. The SMLEs are equipped with Lee-Enfield No. 4 muzzles and (sometimes) with Lange Visier rear sights from Gewehr 1898.
Mauser Rifle
Other pirates are seen with Mauser rifles with turned-down bolt handles, under-barrel sling swivels, and hooded front sights. These, however, cannot be precisely identified.
Aircraft Machine Guns
Custom Maxim lMG 08
Porco purchases an Aircraft Pattern MG08 Maxim with a custom barrel jacket for his red Savoia S.21 lane in the Milan gunshop. He is offered some special armor-piercing rounds for it, what he refused.
Vickers Aircraft
Several Vickers Aircraft Machine Guns are seen mounted on fighter planes throughout the film.
Lewis Aircraft Gun
The Pirates' fictional aircraft "DaboHaze" is outfitted with a Aircraft Mounted Lewis Gun.
Fiat-Revelli M1914
Macchi M.5 single-seat fighter flying boats are armed with air-cooled Fiat-Revelli M1914 machine guns. This type of plane was also armed with British Vickers Aircraft Machine Gun.
Maxim lMG 08/15
During Porco's memories of a dogfight in the Summer of 1918, some Austro-Hungarian Hansa Brandeburg CC aircrafts can also be seen with fixed lMG 08/15 machine guns.
Unknown
Machine Guns
Maxim MG08
One of the pirates is briefly seen carrying a heavy Maxim MG08 machine gun.
Madsen
A light Madsen machine gun can be seen held by one pirate.
Lewis Gun
Infantry Lewis Guns are also used by a few pirates.
Other Weapons
Model 24 Stielhandgranate
Many Model 24 Stielhandgranates are seen in the movie.
Aircraft cannon
A large cannon that appears to be a very chunkily-rendered Solothurn S-18 20mm Anti-Tank Rifle given the stock, sight and side-loading, appears mounted on one of the pirates' planes. It loads using some kind of stripper clip arrangement rather than its usual box magazine, and the barrel and rounds are scaled up to the point it resembles a small tank gun.
