The Scout (Der Scout; full German title Der Scout - Tausend Mustangs und ein Hauptling) is a 1983 East German-Mongolian Western ("Red Western") movie directed by Konrad Petzold and Dshamjangijn Buntar and starring Gojko Mitic as White Feather, the chief of Nez Perces tribe in 1877. White Feather takes a mission to return horses of his tribe, taken away by US cavalry. In order to complete his mission he volunteered to be a scout in Col. Howard's unit.
The following weapons were used in the film The Scout (Der Scout):
Revolvers
Colt Single Action Army Cavalry Model
Colt Single Action Army Cavalry Model revolvers are used by US cavalry officers, notably Maj. Brannigan (Milan Beli) and Col. Howard (Manfred Zetzsche).
Note: see additional images on talk page.
Chamelot-Delvigne Model 1873
Sgt. Anderson (Klaus Manchen) carries a Chamelot-Delvigne Model 1873 revolver. In several scenes Pvt. Hicks (Jürgen Heinrich) carries a holstered revolver that also appears to be a Chamelot-Delvigne.
Reichsrevolver M1879
Lt. Brooks (Giso Weißbach) and Pvts. McGoun (Roland Seidler) and Hunter (Uwe Jellinek) carry Reichsrevolver M1879 revolvers.
Unidentified revolver
In one scene Pvt. Hicks briefly holds a revolver that looks different from other handguns in the movie. It isn't seen clear enough for identification.
Pistols
Double Barreled Percussion Cap Pistol
A girl of Cayuse tribe (Battsetseg Natsagdorj) steals a double barreled percussion cap pistol from the vagon of cattleman Parker (Helmut Schreiber).
Sigle Shot Breech Loaging Pistol
Lt. Brooks (Giso Weißbach) carries a large handgun that appears to be a kind of single shot, breech loading pistol of mid-19th century. This gun switches with Reichsrevolver M1879 due to continuty errors.
Rifles
Winchester Model 1892
Out of time Winchester Model 1892 carbine, standing for earlier Winchester models, is used by Pvt. Charles Randall (Hartmut Beer). After Randall's death Pvt. McGoun (Roland Seidler) takes his rifle, and it falls in hands of White Feather (Gojko Mitic) in the final battle. The carbine has a sling swivel under the tube magazine and lacks the saddle ring.
Note: see additional images on talk page.
Remington Rolling Block
Remington Rolling Block rifles are used by Nez Perces warriors and US cavalrymen, notably Pvts. Hicks (Jurgen Heinrich) and Hunter (Uwe Jellinek).
Note: see additional images on talk page.
Martini Action Schuetzen Rifle
Some Nez Perces warriors and US cavalrymen are armed with single shot Martini Schuetzen rifles, popular German target and hunting guns. Parker's daughter Caroline (Erdmute Schmidt-Christian) also holds a Martini rifle.
Kessler Schuetzen Rifle
Kessler Schuetzen rifles are also seen. Kessler system was an improved version of Martini.
Aydt Rifle
Aydt system Schuetzen rifles are also seen.
Mauser Schebenbüchse Rifle
Cattleman Soames Parker (Helmut Schreiber) has a rifle that appears to be a Mauser Scheibenbüchse, bolt-action target rifle based on Mauser Gewehr 1871 system.
Various rifles
Rifles of unclear models are seen in hands of Nez Perces warriors and US cavalrymen. They are possibly also Schuetzen rifles, but they are seen only partially or too unclear to make a strict guess.
Unidentified rifle
In one scene White Feather holds a rifle that has Schuetzen style stock with semi-pistol grip and Henry-style lever. It's possibly a Marlin-Ballard system.
