Hearts of Iron IV is a Real-Time grand strategy game by Paradox Interactive where the player can take control of many major and minor powers during the leadup and during world war two, either taking their faction down a historically accurate path or going completely off the rails such as a Nazi America or a peaceful Germany with the AI (unless changed via a pre-game option) mostly staying to a historically accurate version of their country.
Weapons in Hearts of Iron IV are either representing by menu artwork or 3D models carried by soldiers on the zoomed in map screen.
Infantry weapon research is the same across all countries, all countries start with "Basic Equipment" (WW1-era weaponry that is outdated even by the start of the game standards but can be produced quicker if the player has a shortage of weapons) and the vast majority also start with the first tier of researched weaponry and and can research two additional tiers of more advanced weaponry represented by icons of more advanced weapons.
The following weapons appear in the video game Hearts of Iron IV:
Submachine Guns
Beretta Model 38A
The Italian Beretta Model 38A submachine gun appears as the second upgraded tier of weaponry for Italian infantry as the "MAB-38".
FNA-B 43
The FNA-B 43 submachine gun appears as the final tier of Italian infantry weapon and is misnamed as the "FNAB-43".
M1A1 Thompson
The M1A1 Thompson appears as the second unlocked tier of Infantry weaponry for America.
M3A1 "Grease Gun"
The M3A1 "Grease Gun" appears as the second unlocked weapons tier for minor factions.
MP38
The MP38 appears as the second unlocked tier of German weaponry alongside the Panzerfaust.
Rifles
Carcano M1891
The Carcano M91 appears as the "Basic Equipment" of the Italian faction.
Carcano M91/38 Cavalry Carbine
The Carcano M91/38 Cavalry Carbine appears as the first tier of upgraded weaponry for the Italians.
Gewehr 1898
The Gewehr 98 appears as the "Basic Equipment" of Germany.
Karabiner 98k
The Karabiner 98k appears as the first unlocked weapon tier for both Germany and minor factions. It appears to be equipped alongside an Mk 2 hand grenade for both minor factions and Germany.
M1 Garand
The M1 Garand appears as the first tier of upgraded infantry weaponry for America.
M2 Carbine
The M2 Carbine appears as the final tier of US infantry weaponry alongside an M1 Bazooka.
M3 Carbine
The M3 Carbine appears on the icon for researching night vision, it is arguably (assuming the player's troops are equipped with it or a similar weapon offscreen) anachronistic as the player can start researching Night vision (without an "Early" research time penalty) in 1943.
Springfield M1903A3
The M1903A3 Springfield appears as the "Basic Equipment" of America.
Sturmgewehr 44
The Sturmgewehr 44 appears as the "MP43" For the Axis faction as their Tier 3 weapon alongside a Panzerschreck and alongside an M1A1 Bazooka as the tier 3 "generic" weapon research for minor factions such as Ethiopia.
Launchers
PIAT
The PIAT appears as the icon for researching anti-tank weaponry.
M1 Bazooka
The M1 Bazooka appears in the same icon as the M2 Carbine.
