The following weapons were used in Season 1 of the television series The Strain:
Pistols
Beretta 92FS
Professor Abraham Setrakian (David Bradley) disarms a Hispanic gang member of a Beretta 92FS when two of them try to rob his pawnshop in "Night Zero" (S01E01). He then disassembles the pistol and tosses the parts into a cart of other assorted gun parts, indicating he has done so many times before.
Glock 17
Thomas Eichhorst (Richard Sammel) gives a Glock 17 to the owner of an airline and forces him to commit suicide with it in "Gone Smooth" (S01E03). Several Glocks are also seen in Abraham Setrakian's (David Bradley) vampire-hunting armory.
M1911
A Colt M1911 is among the weapons seen in Abraham Setrakian's (David Bradley) armory.
Rifles&SMGs
KAR98K
The Karabiner 98k is used by the concentration camp guards.Throughout the series.
Other
Nail Guns
One of Abraham Setrakian's (David Bradley) most favored weapons is a nail gun that fires silver nails. Though not technically a firearm, in the novels on which the series is based, it is explained that Setrakian has augmented the gun's firing mechanism with small charges of gunpowder, like a shotgun shell. This augmentation is necessary because neither of the original type of nail gun is suitable as a vampire-hunting weapon: pneumatic guns are not portable, since they need to be connected to supplies of water and air, while electric, battery-powered guns lack muzzle velocity and ranged trajectory. The nail gun also becomes favored by Eph Goodweather (Corey Stoll) and Vasily Fet (Kevin Durand).
(N.B. Powder-actuated nail guns are commercially available, but are impractical as weapons since they require re-loading after each shot.)
Silver Bullets
Abraham Setrakian (David Bradley) has a collection of silver bullets for loading into the various guns in his armory.
Model 39 Eihandgranate
The weapons in Abraham Setrakian's (David Bradley) armory include a series of Model 39 Eihandgranates, with which he is attempting to make an ultraviolet light flash-bang (similar to one used in Guillermo del Toro's earlier film Blade 2).
