It was founded in 1941 to expand Argentinian defense industry production amidst a decline in imports due to the Second World War. FM has produced or currently produces small arms such as license-produced copies of the FN FAL, FN MAG, Browning Hi-Power, and M3 Grease Gun as well as indigenous designs like the FARA 83 and FMK-3.
