Hot Shots! is a 1991 comedy in the style of Airplane! Charlie Sheen stars as Topper Harley, a US Navy pilot who is brought back into the military for a top secret mission. Hot Shots! mainly satirizes the film Top Gun and would spawn the 1993 sequel Hot Shots! Part Deux, which would satirize the Rambo films. The cast includes Valeria Golino, Cary Elwes, and Lloyd Bridges.

An M60 machine gun is seen manned as a doorgun on the UH-1 Huey carrying RADM Thomas "Tug" Benson (Lloyd Bridges) arrives on the S.S. Essess aircraft carrier.
M61A1 Vulcan
During the carrier takeoff montage, an A-7E Corsair II is seen being prepped for launch. The A-7 carried a single M61A1 Vulcan cannon.
