− | Terminator | + | Terminator Genisys is the fifth installment in the Terminator film series and marks the first time since 2003's Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines the return of Arnold Schwarzenegger in a starring role as a new version of the iconic character. The 2015 film finds Kyle Reese (now portrayed by Jai Courtney) traveling back to the year 1984 to protect Sarah Connor (now portrayed by Emilia Clarke) from a Terminator sent to eliminate her, but finds that the past is vastly different from what he was told and what was seen in the original Terminator film. Directed by Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World), Genisys also features Jason Clarke as John Connor and Byung-hun Lee as the T-1000. The film is set in several different time periods (1973, 1984, 2017 and 2029), so there was an attempt to show weapons that were appropriate for each era. In 2019, Schwarzenegger would be back as the T-800 for the sequel Terminator: Dark Fate, which also featured the return of Linda Hamilton to the role of Sarah Connor in addition to original Terminator director James Cameron to the series as a producer. |

Terminator Genisys is the fifth installment in the Terminator film series and marks the first time since 2003's Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines the return of Arnold Schwarzenegger in a starring role as a new version of the iconic character.
The following weapons were used in the film Terminator Genisys:
WARNING! THIS PAGE CONTAINS SPOILERS!
Pistols
Desert Eagle Mark VII
Sarah Connor (Emilia Clarke) is seen using Desert Eagle Mark VII in a confrontation with a T-1000 unit during 1984. This particular model is anachronistic as the Mark VII was introduced in 1990, the correct model in 1984 is the Mark I as it was introduced in 1983.
Glock 21
Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney) is armed with a Glock 21 during a chase on the Golden Gate bridge in 2017.
Browning Hi-Power
In 1984, Sarah pulls a Browning Hi-Power pistol during an argument with Kyle.
Smith & Wesson M&P
Some of the SFPD officers appear to be armed with the Smith & Wesson M&P pistol while on the Golden Gate bridge in 2017.
SIG-Sauer P226 E2
During a confrontation in 2017, Kyle and Sarah are seen using SIG-Sauer P226 E2 pistols in 2017, notably in the hospital garage and at Cyberdyne. The P226 E2 appears to be one of the sidearms carried by SFPD officers in 2017.
SIG-Sauer P226R
What appears to be a regular SIG-Sauer P226 is pulled by Detective Cheung (Sandrine Holt). In closeups, the pistol appears to be a Non Gun.
Smith & Wesson Model 15
As in The Terminator, Kyle can be seen taking a revolver from a police officer when he first arrives in the year 1984. The revolver seen here as well as the one carried by other officers appear to be Smith & Wesson Model 15s. The T-1000 (Byung-hun Lee), while disguised as an officer, also uses this revolver, at one point firing two simultaneously.
Submachine Guns
Heckler & Koch MP5K
Sarah also uses a Heckler & Koch MP5K with a PDW stock attached in a scene set in 1984. In real life, the first MP5K-PDW variant was not developed until 1991.
Sterling MK IV SMG
A Sterling SMG is seen on a table in a police lockup.
Uzi
A full-size Uzi also is seen on a table in a police lockup.
Shotguns
Remington Model 1100
The 'good' T-800, 'The Guardian' (Arnold Schwarzenegger) uses a modified Remington Model 1100 when engaging the antagonistic T-800 that arrives during the events of The Terminator (1984). This shotgun has a short barrel, pistol grip, and no stock.
Trivia: The Remington 1100 was described as the shotgun used by the Terminator in most drafts of the screenplay for the first movie, but when filming started, the Franchi SPAS-12 was selected by James Cameron to be Terminator's shotgun. The appearance of the Remington 1100 in this movie may or may not be a reference to its intended appearance in the first film.
Remington 870 Police Combat with Folding Stock
During a chase, Sarah Connor (Emilia Clarke) engages the T-1000 armed with a Remington 870 Police Combat with Folding Stock in 1984. This particular Remington model was seen in the hands of Sarah Connor in both T2 and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.
FN Tactical Police Shotgun
Sarah also is seen using an FN Tactical Police Shotgun during a confrontation inside the weapons vault in 2017.
Benelli M3 Super 90
During a confrontation in a garage, "The Guardian" Terminator (Arnold Schwarzenegger) uses a hidden shotgun that resembles the pistol-gripped version of the Benelli M3. When Sarah and Kyle are in the police lockup in 2017, Sarah finds the shotgun then gives it back to the Guardian, who then uses it while on the rooftop.
Benelli M4 Super 90
A Benelli M4 Super 90 shotgun fitted with an EOTech sight was used by "The Guardian" Terminator (Arnold Schwarzenegger) in 2017.
Kel-Tec KSG
Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney) uses a Kel-Tec KSG fitted with a C-More Sight in 2017.
Rifles/Carbines
Futuristic AK
During the Future War, several resistance fighters including John and Kyle are seen armed with modified short-barreled AK rifles that were built from Hungarian FÉG receivers.
AKMS
What appear to be unmodified AKMS rifles are also used by fighters during the future war.
Heckler & Koch HK416
The Heckler & Koch HK416 can be seen carried by officers during a confrontation on the Golden Gate Bridge in 2017.
M4A1 Carbine
When the characters are transported to the year 2017, the M4A1 Carbine with various attachments is seen used by The Guardian (Arnold Schwarzenegger), Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney), Sarah Connor (Emilia Clarke) and John Connor (Jason Clarke). During a confrontation on the Golden Gate Bridge, an officer is seen with an M4. The M4s used by Sarah and John appear to be loaded with the Surefire MAG5-60 quad-stack 60-round magazines.
M16A2 Rifle
Human resistance soldiers can be seen with M16A2 rifles.
Colt CAR-15
Kyle (Jai Courtney) also appears to use the Colt CAR-15 fitted with an M203A1 grenade launcher in 1984. Sarah also uses a CAR-15 without the M203 Grenade Launcher before Kyle uses it on the T-1000 in 1984 until it runs empty before switching to the other CAR-15 with the M203 and reloads the Grenade Launcher and uses it on the evil T-800.
Z-M LR 300ML
While in the weapons bunker in 2017, Kyle is seen taking up an Z-M LR 300ML with the folding stock.
Sniper Rifles
Barrett M82A1
A Barrett M82A1 is seen used when the T-800 Terminator first arrives in the year 1984 as seen in the beginning of The Terminator. Kyle later is seen taking up the rifle when he sees the T-800 known as "The Guardian" in the back of the armored truck. Although the M82 is not anachronistic for 1984, the rifle seen in the film appears to be the much more common and improved A1 model, which was not introduced until 1986, two years after the events of the first film.
Custom AR-15 Sniper Rifle
While on a helipad in 2017, Sarah is seen carrying a custom AR-15 based sniper rifle that appears to be fitted with a Magpul PRS stock.
Machine Guns
Browning M2HB
A visually modified Browning M2HB is used by John during the future war.
M230 Chain Gun
During the Future War, Apache helicopters with 30mm M230 Chain Guns provide air cover for the human resistance.
Launchers
FIM-92 Stinger
A future resistance fighter is seen with an FIM-92 Stinger missile launcher in 2029. As is common in live-action works, this is an expended Stinger launch tube (with the blown-out IR window not replaced) fitted to a prop gripstock.
RPG-7
Several resistance fighters are seen carrying RPG-7 launchers before the final assault on the machines in 2029.
M203A1
What appears to be an M203A1 grenade launcher is fitted underneath the Colt carbine wielded by Kyle in 1984. Anachronistic, because it wasn't developed until the mid 1990s after the M4 carbine entered service.
Carl Gustav M2 Recoilless Rifle
A Carl Gustav M2 Recoilless Rifle is carried by "The Guardian" Terminator while saving the life of a young Sarah Connor in 1973.
Milkor Mk 14 Mod 0
Sarah takes up a Milkor Mk 14 Mod 0 while in the weapons bunker in 2017.
Mk 19 grenade launcher
The Mk 19 grenade launcher is seen mounted on a humvee during the future war. A Mk 19 also is seen in the weapons bunker in 2017.
SA-7 Grail
What appears to be an SA-7 Grail launcher is held by human resistance fighter.
Other
X26 Taser (Police Issue)
Several SFPD officers are seen carrying the X26 Taser pistols on their duty belts during a confrontation on the Golden Gate Bridge. John later is seen dual-wielding them. These tasers have white grips, indicating police issue.
SIMON rifle grenade
What appears to be a SIMON rifle grenade was used in the film.
Weapons Bunker
At one point, Sarah and Kyle enter a bunker filled with several weapons (including rifles and launchers) in 2017.
