The Black Captain (Chyornyy kapitan) is a Soviet 1973 adventure war movie, directed by Oleg Lentsius. The story is set in 1919, during the Russian Civil war. Red-Green partisans unit "Lightning of Revolution" acts against Gen. Denikin's White Army troops ("Greens" was a generic term for peasantry rebels during the Russian Civil war. Greens often teamed with Reds against Whites but were generally set against Bolsheviks). Partisans commander Fyodor Galatenko (Aleksandr Goloborodko) often makes daring operations, wearing black uniform of an elite unit of White Army, General Markov's officer regiment (hence the title of the movie). Galatenko's activities draw attention of White counterintelligence service and of Red underground organisation.
The following weapons were used in the film The Black Captain (Chyornyy kapitan):
Revolvers
Nagant M1895
Nagant M1895 revolvers are used by partisans commander Fyodor Fyodorovich Galatenko (Aleksandr Goloborodko), his chief of intelligence Osip Zaburunnyy (Les Serdyuk) and some other partisans, and also by White Army officers, including chief of counterintellegence service Col. Stanislav Romualdovich Turskiy (Sergey Polezhaev). Both pre- and post-1930 Nagants are seen.
Note: see additional images of talk page.
Pistols
Mauser C96
Osip Zaburunnyy (Les Serdyuk) carries a Mauser C96 in several scenes.
Mauser C96 "Bolo"
A Mauser C96 "Bolo" is used by Fyodor Galatenko (Aleksandr Goloborodko) when he teaches Galya Islenyeva (Irina Borisova) how to shoot.
FN Model 1906
Galya Islenyeva (Irina Borisova) owns a pocket pistol, a gift from her father, Col. Islenyev. Most likely it's FN Model 1906.
Browning Hi-Power
Two heavily anachronistic Browning Hi-Power pistols are seen among the guns, donated to partisans by a local richman Graaf. The exact model is FN P-35, the first version of Hi-Power. It's worth noting that in the movie pistols are correctly called "Browning".
Walther PPK
Another heavily anachronistic pistol is a Walther PPK, seen in hands of a White officer.
Rifles
Mosin Nagant M1891/30
Many partisans and White Army soldiers are armed with Mosin Nagant M1891/30 rifles, standing for original M91s.
Mosin Nagant M1938 Carbine
Out of time Mosin Nagant M1938 Carbines are used by both partisans and White troops.
P14 Enfield
Pattern 1914 Enfield (or M1917 Enfield) rifles are seen in the train with weapons.
Winchester Model 1895
A Winchester Model 1895 is seen among the guns, donated to partisans by a local richman Graaf. It is called "Winchester hunting rifle".
Machine Guns
Maxim
Partisans use a Maxim machine gun in one scene. It's impossible to say if it is M1910 or M1910/30 model.
Other Weapons
OSP-30 Flare Pistol
White Army officer (Konstantin Artyomenko) uses an out of time OSP-30 flare pistol.
RG-14/30 Hand Grenade
Some partisans carry RG-14/30 hand grenades.
