The Mechanik is a 2005 action-thriller that was the second movie directed by Dolph Lundgren, who stars in the film as Nikolai Cherenko, a veteran Spetsnaz operator who is tasked to rescue a captured American woman from a Russian mobster. He accepts the job only because the kidnapper is also the killer of his wife and son. The film, which was the first for Lundgren to be credited as a screenwriter, was released directly to DVD in the United States under the title The Russian Specialist (not be confused with Charles Bronson's The Mechanic or with its 2011 remake starring Jason Statham and Ben Foster).
The following weapons can be seen in the film The Mechanik:
Ekol Firat 92FS Blank Firing Replica
After his first visit to the strip club, Nikolai Cherenko (Dolph Lundgren) takes a Beretta 92FS from a guard and then uses it in the first part of the movie. Other Berettas are also used by various thugs, and by Yuri (Assen Blatechki), Cherenko's partner.
The Ekol Firat 92FS replica with the "chrome" finish, black trigger, safety and slide release is used by Aleksandr 'Sasha' Popov (Ivan Petrushinov) during the final shootout at the farm.
Russian police officers use pistols that appear to be Makarov PMs.
Bruni Commando Blank Firing 9mm P.A.K.
After meeting the backup team Cherenko (Dolph Lundgren) trades his Beretta for a blank firing only 1911 replica from Bruni of Italy. This is the two tone model.
Aleksandr 'Sasha' Popov (Ivan Petrushinov) is also seen with a black variant of the same gun.
Ekol Aras Compact Blank Firing 9mm P.A.K.
Burton (Ben Cross) uses an Ekol Aras Compact throughout the whole movie. This is a 9mmPAK blank firing only pistol made in Turkey. Cherenko is also seen with it for a very short time, when he finds it in a drawer.
Seen on a table when the team plans the attack.
Most bad guys use AK-47 assault rifles in the film. Some of them have the butt-stocks removed.
Some other thugs are seen with AKS-47's.
Custom Shortened AKS-47
Cherenko (Dolph Lundgren) uses it at the dock to eliminate Sasha's thugs. The rifle features a shorter barrel and a different, hooded front sight. The weapon is later seen in the hands of one of Burton's partners.
AK-47 mocked up as a Sniper Rifle
Yuri (Assen Blatechki), the sniper of Burton's team uses a modified Type III AK-47 in the movie. Burton (Ben Cross) is seen with it for a short time. The rifle features a thumb-hole stock, short-range scope and a very small magazine.
Mossberg 500 Cruiser
During the safehouse shootout Nikolai Cherenko (Dolph Lundgren) takes a Mossberg 500 Cruiser with heat-shield from an assassin and then uses it to eliminate the other hitmen. The M500 Cruiser is loaded with slug shells, noted by their blue color. Mossberg 500's are also used by Sasha's men.
