The Deep is a 1977 adventure movie directed by Peter Yates and based on the novel by Peter Benchley (author of Jaws). Nick Nolte and Jacqueline Bisset appear as David Sanders and Gail Berke, a young couple, happily diving on the Bermuda islands. They find a sunken ship with a cargo of medicinal morphine. Another finding leads them to the treasures of a Spanish ship of 18th century that has sank in the same place. While the two with the help of local treasure hunter Romer Treece (Robert Shaw) try to get the Spanish treasures, the morphine draws the attention of the crime boss Henri Cloche (Louis Gossett Jr.).
