The following weapons were used in the film Red State:
The Generation 2 Glock 17 is prominently featured in the film: ATF Agent Joseph Keenan (John Goodman), ATF Agent Harry (Kevin Alejandro), the ATF Sniper (Marc Blucas) and other agents carry Glock 17s. Sara (Melissa Leo) uses a Glock 17 to kill the ATF Sniper and then she gives the pistol to Cheyenne (Kerry Bishé), who uses it to threaten Randy.

Smith & Wesson Model 28
Sheriff Wynan (Stephen Root) tries to commit suicide with a Smith & Wesson Model 28.
Smith & Wesson Model 28 - .357 Magnum. This essentially the same gun as the Model 27, except for a non-checkered top strap and a less high polish blued finish.
Sheriff Wynan loads his Smith & Wesson Model 28 revolver.
The sheriff puts the Model 28 to his head.
Smith & Wesson Model 34
The ATF Sniper (Marc Blucas) carries a Smith & Wesson Model 34 revolver as his backup weapon. He empties the Model 34 and tries to give it to Cheyenne, however he gets killed before he could do it.

Heckler & Koch MP5A2
Several ATF agents are seen with Heckler & Koch MP5A2s. At one point, ATF Agent Joseph Keenan (John Goodman) picks up an MP5A2 and kill a Believer with it. Esther (Jennifer Schwalbach Smith) is also seen firing an MP5A2.

ATF Agent Joseph Keenan grabs the sheriff's M16A1. Note the A1 sights and absence of brass deflector.
ATF agents are using either M4A1 Carbines or MP5A3 submachine guns in the film. At least one ATF Agent is seen with an M4A1 fitted with an Aimpoint sight. The ATF Sniper's (Marc Blucas) M4A1 is fitted with an unknown telescopic sight. Mordechai (James Parks) also uses an M4A1 when he and his wife, Esther (Jennifer Schwalbach Smith - who is the director Kevin Smith's wife) go to the roof to hold back the ATF agents storming the church.

Classic Army M15A4 Airsoft Carbine
When Travis (Michael Angarano) escapes from the basement, he hides in the armory and takes out a Classic Army M15A4 airsoft rifle (which is a replica of the M4A1 Carbine). It is recognizable by the white "ArmaLite" logo and the white-painted fire position markings on the lower receiver (which no real AR-15 manufacturer uses).
Classic Army M15A4 airsoft carbine
Travis slowly advances forward in the basement of the church.
This good close-up shows the ArmaLite logo, giving away that the gun is just an airsoft rifle. He wouldn't do much damage with the selector on safe also. (It should be noted that not all airsoft manufacturers use white fire position markers on their rifles; the more expensive airsoft M4s have the correct, real-life selectors.)
Travis looks around, desperately trying to find a way out of the church.
Norinco Type 56
Norinco Type 56 rifles are used by the Believers prominently, including Sara (Melissa Leo), Esther (Jennifer Schwalbach Smith), and Mordechai (James Parks). Billy-Ray (Nicholas Braun) picks up and fires a Type 56 when he escapes from the basement and confronts Caleb.
Note: Most Type 56's and Type 56-1's which were imported into the U.S. during the 1980s came standard with a AKM style slant compensator, which made them resemble AKMs.

Some of the Believers are seen firing Norinco Type 56-1 rifles.

When Mordechai and his wife grab more weaponry from the armory, Esther (Jennifer Schwalbach Smith) is seen picking up a (possibly non-firing) AK-47. Her AK changes into a Type 56 when she actually fires it on the roof. An AK-47 is also seen on the cover/poster of the film.

NOTE: This is not the launcher used in the film, but very similar.
The ATF agent fires the launcher through the gate.
The grenade lands on the floor of the shack. (Part of the screencap is blacked out because it was too gory.)
The Believers' Weapon Cache
The Believers keep a massive amount of small arms in their basement. Numerous MP5A2s (with both S-E-F and Navy trigger packs), an Over And Under shotgun, a Ruger Mini-14 and various AK-type guns, hunting rifles and pump-action shotguns can be seen in the room.
