Tour of Duty was an US television series that followed a platoon of US Army soldiers through their yearlong deployment (or "tour of duty") to Vietnam during the height of the American involvement in the war. The series premiered in the US on CBS in September of 1987, during the popularity of feature films being released about the war, including movies such as Platoon, Hamburger Hill, and Full Metal Jacket. The show aired for three seasons from 1987 to 1990 and was one of the very first to depict the conflict in a weekly television drama.
