The Flash is the second television series adaptation of the DC Comics superhero and Grant Gustin stars as Barry Allen. The series which premiered in the US on the CW Network in 2014 and is set in the same DC Comics television universe as the CW show Arrow. The DC Comics superhero character had previously been adapted for television in a 1990 CBS series that starred John Wesley Shipp as Allen (in a nod to that series, Shipp portrays Barry's father in the 2014 version).
