The End of the Emperor of the Taiga (Konets imperatora taygi) is a Soviet 1978 action movie directed by Vladimir Sarukhanov. The story takes place in mid-1920s in Khakassia, a region in south Siberia. It is based on real events, and the main characters of the movie are real people: Ivan Solovyov, the leader of anti-Soviet guerrilla warfare in Khakassia, and Arkady Golikov (later known as writer Arkady Gaidar), 18-years-old commander of Red Army special detachment.
The following weapons are seen in the movie The End of the Emperor of the Taiga (Konets imperatora taygi):
Revolvers
Nagant 1895
Nagant M1895 revolvers are carried by most Red Army commanders, including Arkady Golikov (Andrei Rostotsky), and several Solovyov's commanders. All Nagants in the movie are of post-1930 model.
Smith & Wesson No.3 Russian Model
In one scene a Solovyov's man is seen with a Smith & Wesson No.3 Russian Model revolver.
Pistols
Luger P08
A Luger P08 is Ivan Solovyov's (Ivan Krasko) personal handgun.
Mauser C96
Mauser C96 pistols are carried by Red Army commander Pavel Nikitin (German Kachin), Solovyov's bodyguard Akhmai (Nartai Begalin) and several other characters. Ivan Solovyov (Ivan Krasko) carries a Mauser in the final scene but never fires it.
Mauser Model 1910 Pocket Pistol
In the final scene Solovyov's chief of staff, former White Army officer (uncredited) is seen with a pocket pistol that is supposed to be a Mauser Model 1910.
Rifles
Mosin Nagant M1938 Carbine
Anachronistic Mosin Nagant M1938 Carbines are used by both Red Army cavalrymen and Solovyov's men.
Mosin Nagant M1907 Carbine
Mosin Nagant M1907 Carbines are briefly seen in one scene.
Lee-Enfield Mk.1 Carbine
Some of Solovyov's men also carry short rifles that appear to be pre-SMLE Lee-Enfield Mk.1 Carbines.
Mosin Nagant "obrez"
Sawn-off "obrez" are used by Solovyov's men and villagers. In one scene the process of making an "obrez" is shown.
Winchester Model 1895
Winchester Model 1895 Russian contract rifles and carbines of several versions are seen in hands of Solovyov's guards. In the final scene Arkady Golikov (Andrei Rostotsky) uses a Winchester Model 1895 carbine. Long and short sporterized Winchesters were later used in Ne stavte Leshemu kapkany....
Shotguns
Mosin Nagant/Frolov Bolt Action Shotgun
Evdokia Tikhonovna (Danuta Stolyarskaya) is seen with a bolt action shotgun in several scenes. The weapon is a so-called "frolovka", a conversion of Mosin Nagant Rifle in a hunting shotgun, designed by engineer Pyotr Frolov.
Double Barreled Shotun
A double barreled shotgun is carried by Nastya (Svetlana Chebodayeva-Chaptykova).
Machine Guns
Lewis
Lewis machine guns are used by both Red Army and Solovyov's men. A single movie prop is used in the movie. It is original Lewis but this particular gun has a makeshift barrel cover (supposedly it's a damaged piece that was very roughly repared on cinema factory). Later the same movie prop was used in Bread, Gold and the Nagant Revolver (Khleb, zoloto, nagan).
Maxim M1910/30
Maxim M1910/30 machine guns are used by both Red Army and Solovyov's men. A single movie prop is used in the movie. It is a post-1941 version with top hatch on cooling jacket.
Hand Grenades
F-1 Hand Grenade
F-1 hand grenades are seen in hands of Arkady Golikov (Andrei Rostotsky) in several scenes but never used in action.
Dummy Training Grenade
Dummy training stick grenades are used by various characters. They stand for RG-14 hand grenades.
