When he suspects a threat to the nuclear warhead, Navy SEAL Lt. Hiram Coffey (Michael Biehn) takes out a MAC-10 with a detachable barrel extension and gives it to Fellow SEAL Schoenick (Christopher Murphy).

M16A1 (with A2 handguards)

Or maybe M16A1 with A2 handguard. It is seen wielded by the Bethnic Explorer's Armed QM at the scene when the underwater alien palace rises from the sea.

Not utilized this way in the real world, putting the distinctive A2 handguards on the older rifle was a method used by Movie/TV armorers to simulate A2 rifles when M16A1s were the only ones available.

I was watching it earlier n it was clearly a M16A2. The Winchester
I would need to be sure, but it's possible. The armorer who worked on this movie is the same guy who worked on RoboCop 2, and that movie definitely features real M16A2s. -MT2008

In the Special Edition version, two Soviet sailors were seen with AK-47 rifles slung over their shoulders when the massive tsunami approached a Soviet naval base.
