Super 8 is a 2011 science fiction film written and directed by J.J. Abrams (Mission: Impossible III) and produced by Steven Spielberg. Set in the late 1970's, the film focuses on a group of kids who while making a homemade movie inadvertently film a massive train crash and discover that the contents on the train may not be from this world.

The M16A1 is seen in the hands of the US military personnel. Deputy Jackson Lamb (Kyle Chandler) takes one and uses it while escaping from the custody of the MPs.
