Super 8 (2011)

Super 8 is a 2011 science fiction film written and directed by J.J. Abrams (Mission: Impossible III) and produced by Steven Spielberg. Set in the late 1970's, the film focuses on a group of kids who while making a homemade movie inadvertently film a massive train crash and discover that the contents on the train may not be from this world.

Smith & Wesson Model 10HB

The Smith & Wesson Model 10HB is held by Dr. Woodward (Glynn Turman) after the train crash. Sheriff Pruitt (Brett Rice) carries one, and it is found on the ground at the site of his disappearance.

M1911A1

Though he never draws it and it is seen only briefly, Deputy Sheriff Jackson Lamb seems to have a M1911A1 with linear housing or similar single-stack automatic pistol holstered on his belt, which is unusual for a cop in the seventies.
