Star Wars is a long-running space opera multimedia franchise created by George Lucas, which began from the 1977 film Star Wars (retroactively retitled Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope) directed by Lucas. Following the release of the original six films, Lucasfilm would then be acquired by the Disney Corporation, which would subsequently release three more feature films (aka the Sequel Trilogy), following the saga of the Skywalker family, and numerous "spinoff" feature films, in addition to several live action series released to their streaming service Disney+. Throughout the films and media in the Star Wars saga, Lucas was determined that the universe he envisioned would have a "lived-in" look to it.
