Space Pirate Captain Herlock: The Endless Odyssey - Outside Legend (2002)

Space Pirate Captain Herlock: The Endless Odyssey - Outside Legend is a 13 episode OVA series based on the 1977 manga series by Leiji Matsumoto. It is meant as a sequel / remake of the 1978 television series Space Pirate Captain Harlock and is the sixth anime adaptation of the franchise.

A note on the title: The spelling is neither a mistranslation nor a typo. While the title of the Japanese release was spelled "Harlock", the title screen at the beginning of each episode reads "Herlock". Geneon (the company that licensed the series for a U.S. release) opted to make the English title match the opening credits. Both the subtitles and the English dub dialogue still refers to the titular character as "Harlock".

The following weapons were used in the OVA Space Pirate Captain Herlock: The Endless Odyssey - Outside Legend:

Minebea M-9

The police forces in the Junk Heap carry Minebea M-9 submachine guns.

This seems like rather dated technology for this to be 2980.

Mauser Gewehr 1898

A Mauser Gewehr 1898 rifle can be seen at Tochiro's grave.

Infantry Rifle

Several soldiers in the Earth Garrison Forces carry a fictional, unnamed assault rifle.

Generic Revolvers

Several characters are seen with nondescript revolvers. None are shown clearly enough to identify.

A brainwshed settler aims a revolver at Harlock.

Type 94

The primary sidearm for the Earth Garrison Forces is the Type 94 pistol.

Chief Ilita aims his Type 94.

Double-Barreled Shotgun

One of the brainwashed settlers is seen holding a 12-gauge double-barreled shotgun.

The settler with his shotgun seems to be one of the only mindless followers of Noo who's not using a blade.

Pump-Action Shotgun

One of the brainwashed settlers that attack Harlock at Tsunajima's bar uses a generic pump-action shotgun.

The settler racks the action on his shotgun.
The settler fires at the escaping Harlock.

MP40

After the Noo take control of her, Kei raids the Arcadia's armory and retrieves a MP40 submachine gun.

Model 24 Stielhandgranate

Kei also gathers several Model 24 Stielhandgranates from the Arcadia armory.

Kei's Blaster

Kei Yuki carries a fictitious laser pistol throughout the series.

Tadashi grabs Kei's weapon and fires at one of the Noo. Why a laser pistol needs rifling is anyone's guess.

Cosmo Percussion M78 (Cosmo Dragoon Custom)

Harlock's sidearm is the Cosmo Dragoon, a custom variant of the fictional Cosmo Percussion M78 laser pistol, which is modeled after the Colt 1851 Navy revolver.

Tochiro loads a specialized energy cell into the Dragoon, suggesting that the weapon's power source is replaced the same way a bullet is loaded into a Colt 1851 Cartridge Conversion.

Gravity Sabre

Harlock's primary weapon is an laser rifle known as the Gravity Sabre, which doubles as both a stockless laser rifle and a sword. Despite its name, the Gravity Sabre's size and cup hilt cause it to bear a closer resemblance to an 18th century Italian rapier than to a sabre.
