Once A Thief is the 1996 made-for-TV remake of the 1991 Chow Yun Fat-starring heist film of the same name. Both the original and the remake were directed by John Woo and the film was served as a pilot for a television series, which would subsequently air for one season from 1997 to 1998.

The Taurus PT92 is used throughout the film. In classic John Woo fashion, Mac Ramsey (Ivan Sergei) is seen dual-wielding the pistols during a warehouse shootout.

A Smith & Wesson 3913 "Ladysmith" is held by Li Ann Tsei (Sandrine Holt).

Several gangsters are armed with Ruger MP9 machine pistols.
