Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory is a 13-episode OVA series intended to serve as a prequel to the 1985 TV series Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam. Three and a half years after the defeat of the Principality of Zeon in the original 1979 Mobile Suit Gundam series, an Earth Federation mobile suit training/testing program (drawing clear inspiration from Top Gun) is interrupted when a remnant Zeon force led by Zeon ace pilot Anavel Gato steals a nuclear warhead carrying prototype mobile suit, forcing the largely untested Federation forces to pursue a foe that vastly outmatches them in experience and skill.
The following weapons were used in the OVA Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory:
Pistols
Earth Federation Force Pistol
The Earth Federation Force Pistol (called M71A1 in some sources) is seen with various EF military personnel as their standard sidearm.
Walther P08
The Walther P08 is seen with ex-Principality of Zeon officer Cima Garahau as her sidearm, seen prominently in "Assault on the Point of No Return". Ex-PZ officer Anavel Gato also uses it in "A Storm Raging Through" with Anaheim Electronics engineer Nina Purpleton taking it briefly.
Submachine Guns
MP40
The MP40 is likely seen with some of Cima's men when they seize control of the Gwaden in "Assault on the Point of No Return".
Zeon Submachine Gun
Assault Rifles
STG 44
The Sturmgewehr 44 is seen with a Zeon Afrika Korps soldier in the second OP sequence "Men of Destiny".
M72A1 Assault Rifle
The M72A1 futuristic bullpup assault rifle is seen with the Eart Federation military as their standard assault rifle. The assault rifle is visually based on the Enfield L85 assault rifle with the addition of an M16A1 carry handle and front sight. It is chambered in 4.8mm, which is a possible shoutout to the prototype 4.85x49mm cartridge.
Sniper Rifles
Bolt-Action Rifle
An unknown bolt-action rifle is used by some Zeon holdout forces in East Africa in "Attack and Retreat on the Burning Sand".
Grenades
Unknown Grenade
Most of Cima's men are seen with grenades strapped on their chests when they raid Delaz's ship, Gwaden, in "Assault on the Point of No Return".
