Mesrine (2008)

Mesrine: Public Enemy Number 1 is part 2 of the two-part 2008 French-Canadian Mesrine film series directed by Jean-François Richet and starring Vincent Cassel as the French gangster Jacques Mesrine. Public Enemy Number 1 (French: L'ennemi public n° 1) details Mesrine's criminal career after his escape from prison, and his subsequent brutal end. Part 1 was released as Mesrine: Killer Instinct (French: L'instinct de mort).

Jacques Mesrine (Vincent Cassel) uses a Beretta 93R machine pistol during the casino robbery.

As with the last movie, Mesrine's pistol of choice is the M1911A1.

World War II Colt M1911A1 - .45 ACP

Mesrine fires his M1911A1 dangerously close to an accomplice.

Note the ejecting casing.

The extremely close firing temporarily deafens his accomplice.

The muzzle flash in this scene is rather exaggerated.

Browning Hi-Power

Mesrine later acquires a Browning Hi-Power, which he uses for the Deauville casino heist and to threaten Daniel, a French farmer.

Luger P08

Just before his condemnation at the Compiègne courthouse, Mesrine asks to go to the toilet. A Luger P08 is hidden in the toilet tank, which Mersine uses to escape the courthouse.

MAC Mle 1950 pistols are used by French Gendarmes to shoot at a car with Mesrine inside.

Manuhrin MR-73 "Defense"

A three inch barreled Manuhrin MR-73 "Defense" with fixed or duty sights is used akimbo with an anachronistic Beretta 92FS by a policeman when spying Mesrine before killing him.

An anachronistic Beretta 92FS is used akimbo with a Manuhrin MR-73 "Defense" by an undercover policeman. An original Beretta 92 or Beretta 92S would have been correct.

Submachine Guns

MAT-49

When escaping the Prison de la Santé (Lit. Prison of the Good Health), a random convict escapes with them, and takes a MAT-49 submachine gun from a prison guard. It is also seen in the hands of a policeman manning a roadblock in order to find Mesrine.

IMI Uzi

During the Deauville casino shootout, Mesrine draws an Uzi after running out of ammunition for his pistols. An Uzi is also used by a French police officer to kill Mercine.

AKMSs are used in two different scenes, one time by François Besse during the Deauville casino shootout, and then by Charlie Bauer against Jacques Dallier.

Ruger Mini-14 are used by the policemen assassinating Mesrine.

During the manhunt for Mesrine, the French Army soldiers are armed with MAS-36 rifles. While the older bolt-action MAS-36 was still in use by French police by the 1970s, at this time, the French Army had long moved on to the semi-automatic MAS-49/56.
