King Kong is the 1976 adventure film remake of the 1933 adventure film of the same name and was directed by John Guillermin (The Blue Max). The film follows an oil expedition that stumbles upon a mysterious island where the legendary creature is found to exist. The film's cast included Jeff Bridges, Jessica Lange, and Charles Grodin. The film was produced by Dino De Laurentiis, who would also produce a 1986 sequel King Kong Lives.
The following weapons were used in the film King Kong (1976):
Handguns
Colt Python
The first mate of the Petrox Explorer, Carnahan (Ed Lauter), uses what appears to be Colt Python.
Star Model B
A Star Model B pistol is carried by Fred Wilson (Charles Grodin) in his holster.
Rifles
M16
M16 rifles are carried by National Guardsmen in New York.
Remington Model 760
Timmons (Mario Gallo), one of the sailors, uses a Remington Model 760 pump action rifle. This also appears to be the rifle used by Jack Prescott (Jeff Bridges).
Marlin Model 336
Boan (Julius Harris) uses a Marlin Model 336 rifle.
Shotguns
Winchester Model 1897 "Trench Gun"
One of the sailors, Joe Perko (Jack O'Halloran), carries a Winchester Model 1897 "Trench Gun"
Machine Guns
M134 Minigun
While on top of the World Trade Center, Kong is strafed by Huey gunships armed with rockets and M134 miniguns. Footage of the minigun firing was later reused in the 1987 film The Running Man, which inspired this amusing mashup video.
Other
M2A1-7 Flamethrower
National Guardsmen atop the World Trade Center use an M2A1-7 flamethrower. This pairs the older M2 tanks with the newer M7 wand.
