The Friday The 13th Series is the American horror film franchise centering around the undead serial killer known as Jason Voorhees (with the exception of the original film in 1980 and Part V). While the series has never been popular with reviewers, the film series currently spans 12 films (including one where Jason battled fellow horror film icon Freddy Krueger of the Nightmare on Elm Street series as well as a 2009 reboot) and is considered one of the most successful media franchises in North America.
