The Franchi LF-57 is an Italian submachine gun designed by Franchi, the first and so far only submachine gun manufactured by the company. Introduced in 1957, it is a simple weapon made almost entirely of stamped steel and operates via simple blowback. Most of the bolt is located above the barrel, with the barrel itself being held in place by only a single nut. The heavy bolt assembly gives the weapon a low, controllable rate of fire of 460 rounds per minute and relatively low felt recoil.
