The gun is not a 5904. The movie was made in 1986.The 5904 was made in 1989 and later. Most likely a Nickel Plated S&W Model 539 or Nickel Plated S&W Model 459. In the movie there is a seen you can see the single side safety and were the lever would be is a darker color.

F/X (1986)

F/X is a 1986 action thriller starring Bryan Brown as Roland "Rollie" Tyler, a movie special effects artist who is hired by the CIA to stage a phony hit. When the assassination appears to actually take place, Rollie finds himself using his expertise to evade the police and to prove his innocence. A sequel released in 1991.
