Cujo is the 1983 feature film adaptation of the Stephen King novel of the same name. The film stars Dee Wallace as a single mother who finds herself and her son in danger when they come under attack from a St. Bernard named "Cujo", that has become crazed after being bitten by a rabid bat.

The following weapons were used in the film Cujo:

Smith & Wesson Model 66

Sheriff George Bannerman (Sandy Ward) definitely carries a bright finish stainless steel .357 Magnum Smith & Wesson revolver as his main sidearm. Unfortunately, because there are no close-ups of the weapon, it makes it almost impossible to identify the exact model from other similar revolvers of the brand. Judging by the inscription on the right side of the barrel and the cylinder catch, it can be confirmed that it is a Smith & Wesson and not another brand like Colt, but it is still unknown which model it is. Because the production year was 1983 (after all, the previous year First Blood had a Model 66 that may have even been the same gun), it is most likely a Smith & Wesson Model 66 in .357, judging by the wood grips and the stainless steel finish, although it could also be a 686, or even a Model 19 that was nickel plated. It is later used by Donna Trenton (Dee Wallace).

Unidentified Rifle

An unidentified rifle owned by Joe Camber, possibly a Winchester Model 1894 or Remington 700, is seen briefly in use by Gary Pervier (Mills Watson) in an attempt to kill Cujo. Camber foolishly kept the weapon unloaded, proving to be a mistake.

Trivia

  • George Bannerman is seen in many Stephen King works that take place in fictional Castle Rock, Maine, including Cujo. The character also appeared in the film version of The Dead Zone, portrayed by Tom Skerritt. There he carried a .357 Magnum Smith & Wesson Model 28 "Highway Patrolman" revolver. In Cujo, the character is portrayed by Sandy Ward and carries a stainless steel .357 Smith & Wesson that appears to be a Model 66 or a vintage Model 686.
