Christopher Plummer is a Canadian actor well known to film audiences for his role as Captain Von Trapp in the 1965 film The Sound of Music. In addition, his 5 decade long acting career includes roles in such diverse films as The Return of the Pink Panther, Hanover Street, Dragnet (1987), The Insider, and the 2010 film Beginners, a role for which he received an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor, making him the oldest person ever to receive such an award for acting. He also is the father of actress Amanda Plummer.
