Mikhail Konstantinovich Kalatozov (born Mikheil Kalatozishvili, December 28, 1903 – March 27, 1973) was a Soviet film director of Georgian origin, best known for the movie The Cranes Are Flying (1957) that won several international awards, including Palme d'Or at the 1958 Cannes Film Festival. His other most famous works are The Unsent Letter (1959), I Am Cuba (1964), and all-star Soviet-Italian The Red Tent (1969). In 1969 Kalatozov was awarded the title of People's Artist of USSR.
