Model 1912 Steyr Mauser - Chilean Contract

How much do you know about this model? I used to own one. Sometime in the 50's or 60's it was modified with a shorter barrel and chambered for .308. Got rid of it, but I've always been curious about it. --Jcordell 11:13, 22 July 2012 (CDT)

FN Modele 1950

I saw your work on the Mauser and Springfield pages, and I was wondering if perhaps you know anything about the FN Herstal Model 1950 rifle, the model chambered in .30-06 Springfield, and fielded by the Belgian military for about three years before being replaced by the M1949. Straight bolt K98ks

I ran across what appeared to be K98ks but with straight bolt handles. I'm assuming they were built as K98ks with bent bolt handles since there's a cutout in the stock to accommodate the bent bolt handle. I read online that the Russians often put G98 bolt handles on K98ks when they refurbished captured rifles after the war, but this was an American TV show from the sixties, so these rifles probably didn't come from Russia. A firing squad with K98k's in "Memory" (S01E02). The guard closest to the camera has a bent bolt handle, but the guard to his left has a straight bolt handle.

Note the cutout in the stock to accommodate a bent bolt handle, indicating that this rifle originally had a bent bolt handle.

Can you provide some help with Mauser rifles?

I have to ask you as an expert in Mauser rifles. There are some strange Mausers in March or Die. They resemble Spanish M1916 but have straight bolt handles. I'm also not sure with rifles that I identified as Spanish M1893, maybe I'm wrong. The movie was filmed in Morocco where Spanish Mausers aren't a rare bird. Thanks in advance. Great thanks for help! But I have a question: the rifles that I have previously identified as Spanish M43s have different stocks from Turkish Mausers, and they also seem to be shorter. Or not? Maybe there was a shorter version of Turkish Mauser? I tried to find an answer in "Mauser Military Rifles of the World" book (on Google Books) but found nothing.
