SP89 from The Rock

I'm not MPM but I can tell you some things. It was a genuine SP89, not a modified MP5K. It usually has an 0-1 trigger group (no 2 because it is usually a semi auto civie gun), but an SEF group can be added. The only mods made to the gun was adding a collapsing MP5 style stock and converting it to full auto. Also, it is fitted with an optical sight, possibley an NV.

Here's a pic of a normal SP89 without a stock (taken by MPM):

Heckler & Koch SP89 - 9mm.

Shot from the film:

Also, I've never heard of someone turning an MP5K into an SP89 by adding an SP89 forend, but the reverse has been done to create an MP5K when a real MP5K isn't available:

Heckler & Koch SP89 converted to look like an MP5K by adding MP5K forend. The 2 on the selector is added on so the gun appears to be able to select the option, but the gun is actually converted to full auto. Note the lack of a paddle magazine release behind the magazine (it is a button on the right instead) and lack of a push pin set infront of the trigger assembly (It'd be directly above the front point of the trigger guard). The lack of these features shows the gun is an SP89 and NOT an MP5K.

Please note, MPM is an armorer, but he hasn't worked on every movie ever made, and I"m pretty sure he wasn't involved in the production of The Rock.

Hope I answered your question. :) - Gunmaster45
