Smith & Wesson Model 36 "Chief's Special" is the sidearm of the plainclothes officers serving in the Royal Hong Kong Police Force (RHKPF). It can be seen in the hands of Insp. Fan Shun-Yu (Jacky Cheung), Insp. Ho Hsueh-Ling (Carol Cheng), Insp. Michael Huang (Simon Yam), Terry (Donnie Yen), Uncle Tai (Ng Man-Tat), Pheasant (Jing Chen) and Hsiu (Leung Ka-Yan). One can be seen in the hands of Swatow Hung (Lung Wei Wang). A worthy note is that S&W Model 36 revolver is a common substitute for the Colt Detective Special, the real sidearm carried by the RHKPF criminal investigation officers, in the action films filmed in Hong Kong.
