Shotguns and 45 autos
There is an old expression that states writers write what they know. For those who haven't read Stephen King over the years I have noticed that the .410-gauge shotguns make an unusual number of appearances. Also, the Model 1911A1 was a popular guest star in his earlier works. My guess is growing up in Maine in the fifties and sixties SK had experience with those calibers more than any others. Makes sense. They were popular for one. The 410 was affordable and perfect for pest control and in the years following WWII he probably encountered more than a few surplus 1911 pistols. --Jcordell (talk) 21:55, 18 March 2023 (UTC)
