The Skyraider may seem anachronistic but keep in service because they were slow. being slow meant easier to hit ground targets, and harder for jets to shoot them down because they would over shoot.
- No one ever said the Skyraider was anachronistic. It wasn't. It was extensively used by both American and ARVN forces throughout the war. The only thing that is odd is using slow ground support aircraft like the Skyraider on a bombing run behind enemy lines. That is when a slow aircraft like the Skyraider is really vulnerable to AA fire from the ground. They would use fast movers versus ground support aircraft, especially in enemy territory that is filled with Heavy machine guns, AAA and missiles. :) MPM2008
