Mercenaries 2: World in Flames
Release Date: August 31, 2008
Developer: Pandemic Studios
Publisher: Electronic Arts
Series: Mercenaries
Platforms: PC, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360
Genre: Third-Person Shooter

Mercenaries 2: World in Flames is an open-world third-person shooter video game developed by the now defunct Pandemic Studios (known for games like Full Spectrum Warrior or The Saboteur). It is a sequel to Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction. The game takes place in war-torn Venezuela following a coup by a powerful businessman. The player assumes the role of a betrayed mercenary trying to get revenge on his/her employers after a set up.

The game was released by Electronic Arts in 2008 for the PC, Xbox 360, PS2 and PS3 platforms.

The following weapons appear in the video game Mercenaries 2: World in Flames:

IMI/Magnum Desert Eagle Mark XIX

Jamaican Pirates are using Desert Eagle Mark XIX pistols. It incorrectly holds 15 rounds and, strangely, its performance is identical to the P226's.

Desert Eagle Mark XIX - .50 AE
Close-up of a Jamaican pirate's Desert Eagle.
Jen holds a Desert Eagle. Note how it has scope rails, like the Mark XIX, but is modeled with Mark I-style "teardrop" safety. This is not a mistake though, as Magnum Research offers the Mark XIX pistols with teardrop safeties by default.
A Desert Eagle on the ground, called the "Pistol", like the SIG.

SIG-Sauer P226

As in real life, the Venezuelan Army uses SIG-Sauer P226 pistols. They are also seen in UP or PLAV hands. Appears simply as "Pistol" in the game.

SIG-Sauer P226 - 9x19mm
Jennifer hands over her P226 with blued slide to Blanco. Note how the barrel is clearly bigger than 9mm.
Blanco strikes an interesting pose when he takes Jen's pistol.
Fiona pulls out her P226 when Eva and Jen enter the occupied villa.
Jennifer puts her P226 to one of Blanco's goon's head. The P226 is "cut-scene weapon"; she is always seen with a P226, even if she wasn't even carrying it in the level before the cut-scene.
Jennifer with a P226 pistol at the ready.
Jen holds a suppressed P226, known in the game as the "Covert Pistol". It is available along with the MP5SD3 in the "Covert Kit".

Submachine Guns

Chang Feng CF-05

An early version of the Chang Feng CF-05 SMG is carried by Chinese sailors and officers, as well as tank drivers and rocket carrying troops. The CF-05 holds a correct 50 rounds, but offers low damage and lame accuracy.

Early Model Chang Feng - 9x19mm
A Chinese sailor with an early model CF-05 submachine gun. Note the extended stock.
Jennifer holds a CF-05 submachine gun while trying to rescue a captured Allied jet pilot. Due to an animation mistake, she holds the gun as if it was a full-sized weapon, hence is her hand dangerously in front of the barrel.
Jen quickly reloads her CF-05 in the middle of a massive firefight.

Heckler & Koch MP5SD3

The internally-suppressed Heckler & Koch MP5SD3 is one of the many purchasable Supply Drops in the game (Known as "Covert Kit")

Jen with an MP5SD3.

Micro Uzi

The Micro Uzi appears as "Machine Pistol" in the game and has incorrect 45-round capacity. This is one of the submachine guns used by the Pirate faction in the game, also used by some VZ HVTs. Identical to the MAC-10 save for it's appearance.

Ingram MAC-10

The Ingram MAC-10 is one of the submachine guns used by the Pirate faction in the game. Has an incorrect 45-round magazine (instead of the correct 30-rounders) and high rate of fire.

The PP-2000 has a good stopping power, can be obtained by the player by completing Level 2 of one of Fiona's challenges at the PMC. Can be found under "Fiona's Favorites" in the supply drop list. Called "PDW" in the game.

Benelli M4 Super 90

The Benelli M4 Super 90 shotgun is used by Pirates and the PLAV, and VZ officers. Can be purchased via the "CQB Kit". Holds 7 shells. A pumping sound is heard between shots, even though no pumping animation occurs.

Assault Rifles

As in real life, the Venezuelan (VZ) military faction in the game uses AK-103 rifles. It correctly shares ammunition with the AKM. It is slightly more accurate than the AKM, but the player can carry less extra ammo for it.

Jen reloads her AK-103 after capturing a VZ outpost for the Guerrillas. Note how the AK-103's icon on the HUD is a '47.
Close-up of an AK-103. Both the 103 and AKM are simply referred to as "Assault Rifles".

The AKM is the standard issue weapon of the People's Liberation Army of Venezuela faction, and also it can be seen being used by the Pirate faction, after the prologue mission, it is the starting weapn for the player in Free Roam.

M4A1 Carbine

The M4A1 Carbine is the standard issue weapon of the Universal Petroleum mercenaries and can be seen being carried by Allied Nations medics also. The model of the M4A1 lacks the rear sight, yet still, it has good accuracy. Jennifer and Matthias can carry a total of 12 magazines, while Chris Jacobs (being the "strong" mercenary) can carry 16.

Jennifer examines the weapons she has to deliver to the Universal Petroleum faction's base of operations. As the HUD shows, the whole cargo is worth only 9,500 dollars, while in real life one single M4 Carbine costs more than a thousand dollars.
Jennifer reloads a "Carbine", as the game calls it. It is worth noting that all unfired rounds are lost after a reload.

Heckler & Koch XM8

The Heckler & Koch XM8 is the standard issue weapon of the Allied Nations faction in the game, having been adopted by the US Armed Forces in the Mercenaries universe. Known as "Combat Rifle". The rifle has a 40-round magazine in the game, despite only having a 30-round capacity in reality. A total of 10 magazines can be carried for it.

Jen reloads the XM8.

Norinco QBZ-95

The Norinco QBZ-95 is the standard issue weapon of the Chinese faction. Called simply "Bullpup Rifle" in the game. It is accurate, but has a low damage and ROF.

Machine Guns

The M249 is used by UP mercenaries and AN soldiers. In-game, its bipod is unfolded and is fitted with a heat-shield. Only holds 100 rounds despite being fitted with the 200-round belt box.

Norinco QJY-88

The QJY-88 machine gun is used by the PLA. Has exactly the same stats as the RPK, but a glitch allows it to shoot a virtually straight stream of bullets, giving it amazing accuracy.

A Chinese soldier holds a QJY-88 inside the main Chinese base.
A QJY-88 machine gun with bipod folded on Jennifer's back.
Jen reloads the QJY-88. Note how she's inserting a 7.62x39mm AK magazine, which changes into the correct shape once it gets into position. This programming mistake happens with most of the guns, excluding those with a "fast" reload animation, where only the charging handle is pulled but the magazines are not messing with.

The RPKs with 75-round drum magazines are used by the PLAV and VZ factions. It appears as "Automatic Rifle" in the game.

Sniper Rifles

Barrett M95

The Barrett M95 is available through the .50 Cal Anti-Materiel Rifle Kit from the AN. For some reason, it fires in semi-auto instead of being bolt-action (although there is a short delay between shots).

Jen holds the Barrett.
Jennifer reloads the M95.

The KSVK is available through the 12.7mm Anti-Materiel Rifle Kit from the PLA. Statistically identical to the Barrett M95, which means that this is also shown as semi-auto.

Jen holds a KSVK rifle.

Norinco QBU-88

The QBU-88 is used by the PLA faction of the game. Statistically identical to the SVD. The gun has an interesting reload animation: the characters only pull the charging handle, but do not change magazines at all.

Jen holds a QBU-88 sniper rifle, known in the game as "5.8mm Sniper Rifle", or "Chinese Sniper Rifle".

SVD Dragunov

The SVD Dragunov is used by the PLAV, VZ forces and UP mercenaries. A glitch in the game occasionally makes the characters hold it like a pistol. On the buy menu, it is mislabeled as the "7.72mm Sniper".

Jennifer reloads the SVD. As with the QJY-88, she is inserting an AKM/103 magazine, which changes into the correct shape when the reload is done. Note how the HUD icon of the rifle has a side-folding buttstock like the SVD-S.

FIM-92A Stinger

The FIM-92A Stinger is a powerful weapon that is used by all factions. Has both free-fire and lock-on firing modes. Known as the "Anti-Air Launcher" in the game.

Milkor MGL Mk 1L

The Milkor MGL Mk 1L grenade launcher is seen in the hands of UP Mercenaries and can be attained via the "Grenade Launcher Drop". It appears that the reload animation of the launcher was recycled from the M4 Super 90's, because the characters do not open the cylinder, but insert the grenades as if it had a tubular magazine.

Grenades & Explosives

M34 White Phosphorous grenade

The M34 White Phosphorous grenade is used as a smoke grenade in the game. It is used to designate targets for the friendly helicopter, or mark airstrike targets.

Jen throws an M34 WP grenade to mark a pallet of cash for pickup.

M61 Frag Grenade

The M61 Frag Grenade is used by all factions, the player's character can hold 9 grenades in total. A note of interest is that the HUD icon of the M61 is the M67, while the pick-up icon is an Mk 2 grenade.

Jen drops the grenade she took from the driver into the tank. This preset animation occurs when the player successfully hits the keys shown on the screen, and then hijacks an enemy armor.

Accuracy International Arctic Warfare Magnum

What appears to be a slightly changed Accuracy International Arctic Warfare Magnum appears only in the PS2 version of the game, it is the only new weapon as the PS2 version of Mercs 2 only has guns from Playground of Destruction otherwise, it does not appear in the main "NextGen" versions of the game, it is called the "Covert Sniper".
