Deal of the Century
Deal of the Century is a 1983 satire starring Chevy Chase as an arms dealer who finds himself employed by an American defense contractor to convince a South American dictator to purchase an unmanned flying arms platform with questionable reliability. The film was directed by William Friedkin (The French Connection) and the cast includes Sigourney Weaver and Gregory Hines.
The following weapons were used in the film Deal of the Century:
Heckler & Koch HK91
The Heckler & Koch HK91 is a rifle that arms dealer Eddie Muntz (Chevy Chase) tries to sell to some South American rebels. The particular rifle he tries to sell has an attached scope and even a bottle opener!
The rebels that come to deal with Eddie at the lake bed are armed with M16A1 rifles. Soldiers on the government helicopters that engage the rebels also use the M16A1.
One of the rebels supplied by Eddie is armed with a full-size Uzi.
A military officer pulls an M1911A1 when Muntz appears to threaten Gen. Cordosa (William Marquez). It's also carried by a rebel driver.
Colt Detective Special
While in South America, Eddie encounters Harold DeVoto (Wallace Shawn), who threatens to commit suicide with a Colt Detective Special.
Smith & Wesson Model 60
Catherine DeVoto (Sigourney Weaver) is seen pulling a Smith & Wesson Model 60 on Eddie while in his apartment.
Beretta 84FS Nickel
The street robber (Alex Colon) who tries to rob Eddie is armed with a nickel Beretta 84FS.
A Browning M1919A4 .30 caliber machine gun is seen at the arms expo.
M230 Chain Gun
The Hughes 30mm M230 Chain Gun is seen on display at the arms expo.
An Ithaca 37 fitted with a magazine is seen in a display at the arms expo.
An M72 LAW fitted with a night vision scope is another weapon Eddie tries to sell to the rebels.
Eddie asks his friend Ray Kasternak (Gregory Hines) to go visit a gun dealer to buy some M2 Flamethrowers. When an irate driver vandalizes his car, Ray decides to use the flamethrower on the irate driver's car. This flamethrower appears to be the same one used in the 1984 film Exterminator 2.
Tape Player Gun
Eddie also demonstrates a firearm hidden inside a cassette tape player.
When Ray pilots the F-17 attack fighter, a closeup can be seen of its tri-barreled cannons firing.
Muntz's Gun Cache
Eddie's gun cache contains several rifles and handguns.
Gun Dealer's Room
The gun dealer that Ray visits for the flamethrower is seen with many machine guns on his wall.
