Civilization V
|
Civilization V is a global strategy game and the fifth installment in the Civilization series. It was developed by Firaxis Games and released for Microsoft Windows in September 2010. A version for OS X was released in November 2010 and for Linux in June 2014. It is a turn-based strategy game in which each player represents the leader of a civilization and must guide its growth over thousands of years. The game begins with the founding of a small settlement and ends after one of the victory conditions has been met or the number of turns has expired. In this case, the civilization with the highest score based on several factors such as population, land, technological progress, and cultural development is declared the winner.
In the fifth part of the series, a hexagon board is used for the first time instead of the square board grid. City-states, computer-controlled one-city nations that do not compete for victory, have also been introduced. Infrastructure and most buildings and modernizations cost upkeep per turn and dissatisfaction spreads among the population simply because the civilization is growing too fast.
