The Punisher (1989)

The Punisher was the 1989 action film that was the first movie adaptation of the Marvel comic book character. The B-movie starred Dolph Lundgren as the vigilante Frank Castle. The Punisher character would subsequently be "rebooted" two more times: 2004's The Punisher starring Thomas Jane and 2008's Punisher: War Zone starring Ray Stevenson.

The following weapons were used in the 1989 film The Punisher:

Handguns

Star Model B

The Star Model B is seen carried by several characters in the film.

Star Model B Pistol, blued finish - 9mm. This is a screen used Star Model B from the 1987 film The Untouchables.
One of Moretti's goons lies dead with his Star Model B next to him. Note the lack of a grip safety.
Dino Moretti (Bryan Marshall) draws his Star Model B. Note the external extractor.
Moretti manages to fire off one round.
One of Franco's thugs holds his Model B on Jake Berkowitz (Louis Gossett Jr.).

Browning Hi-Power

The first version of the classic pistol, developed by John Browning and adopted by Belgium in 1935, the FN P-35 - 9x19mm. During World War II, the Germans would occupy the Belgian firearms factories and continued to produce this gun, still called the P-35, but with Waffenamt stamps. The design would be adopted by other countries and manufactured abroad with the generic designation simply as the "Browning High Power".

Acetylene "non" gun

  • Common in movies where they could not use real guns (like in places with noise restrictions, around small children, or close to an actor's head). Also, New York City has draconian anti gun laws, thus these FAKE guns which fire a 'poof' of acetylene flash and smoke are used instead of real blank firing guns in many instances. (Most noticeably in the movie the Siege when used by Denzel Washington). These fake guns look a little similar to major models of handguns (Beretta 92, Glock, M1911) but something about them always looks a little 'off'.

NOTE: The 1989 film version of The Punisher was filmed entirely in Sydney, Australia and not in New York City.
