The East (De Oost) (2020)

The East (Dutch: De Oost) is a 2020 Dutch war movie set in the Dutch Civil Aggressions, or "Police actions" as they are known in the Netherlands. The movie is directed by Jim Taihuttu and stars Martijn Lakemeier as Johan de Vries, the son of a Dutch Nazi collaborator who volunteered to fight for the Netherlands in the Aggression of the late 1940s, Marwan Kazari plays the role of Raymond "De Turk" Westerling. The movie takes place near Batavia (which mistakenly gets referred to as Jakarta in the movie a few times) and later moves to (south) Sulawesi.
