Remington 742 Woodmaster

Bobby Thompson (Tim O'Kelly) uses a Remington Model 742 Woodmaster, semi-auto rifle chambered in .30-06 with what looks to be a weaver scope, to do all of his sniping for the majority of the movie.

Bobby Thompson converses with the gun store owner, after paying for his newly purchased Woodmaster Rifle, he mentions that the rifle, case, and extra ammunition totals out to $249.60, what a bargain.
Thompson takes aim with his rifle atop the gas tank.
