I've tried looking into this myself (well before this discussion too) and even most Polish-language sources I come across the all-lowercase style (both "kbs wz." and "wz."). I have ''never'' seen a situation in any language where that language's grammar rules apply to proper nouns / names / designations, and this seems very out of place to me, especially when, again, Polish language stuff seems to use fully lowercase too. There are very much designations which are simply lowercase no matter what is or isn't attached to them, because applying grammar rules to proper nouns is something I've never heard of actually being done, unless Polish is different in this way (but again, loads of Polish-language site/etc I've seen don't do this). Like, if you formed a band and named it "rock band" (because I'm super creative) in lowercase, it doesn't become "Rock band", because one doesn't apply grammar rules to proper nouns. wz. or Wz.
I found this discussion (which is unhelpfully split over separate pages), but I'm not sure I see the argument here. I've tried looking into this myself (well before this discussion too) and even most Polish-language sources I come across the all-lowercase style (both "kbs wz." and "wz."). I have never seen a situation in any language where that language's grammar rules apply to proper nouns / names / designations, and this seems very out of place to me, especially when, again, Polish language stuff seems to use fully lowercase too. Grammar-wise, it should be the first letter capitalized as English like "Kbk. wz. 96 Beryl" or "Wz. 96 Beryl". I guess it would be better this way, just like M in Model is capitalized.--Dannyguns (talk) 07:42, 9 May 2024 (UTC)
- What I mean is it changing by context, that's what I find off here.
